Milestones are those important transitions in a child and family’s life that you want to leave markers as a way of remembering those important times.  Over the year we will have classes and special celebrations that mark these milestones:  Birth of a Baby, Faith Commitment of a Child, First Bible, Preteen Passage.  With these trainings you, as a parent, will receive valuable training to prepare you for what to expect as your child develops, and helpful resources that you can use to encourage an interest in the Lord.

Milestone 1:  Parent-Child Dedication
Child dedication is really a parent dedication.  Parents promise before the Lord and the church to raise their child in the ways of the Lord.  But its much more than a celebration with new parents – its a promise that our church will walk side by side with you as your child grows in faith.  Additionally, this special worship service time is a reminder that God himself promises to give you guidance, wisdom, and the resources to be faithful to his calling as parents.

Mandatory Training Class:   Sunday, Nov. 3 @ 9 am or Wednesday, Nov. 6  @ 6 pm in Room 509.

The Parent-child Dedication Worship service will be Sunday, November 10, 2014

Contact Pam Hutcherson at pam@trinitysouthaven.org to sign up and inform her of which class you will attend.

Milestone 2:  First Bible                                                            Sunday, September 29 @ 9 am in Room 509
When a child receives his or her first Bible, usually around First Grade, it ought to be recognized and given importance by his or her parents.  Planning for this milestone can be a life-changing event.  Perhaps in our culture with so many Bibles available everywhere, we don’t always see the significance of a child owning his or her very own copy of God’s Word.
In this session for parents of Kindergartners and First Graders, we will discuss the importance of Bible reading and family worship, provide helpful tips on how to get started with family worship, and provide resources for the family.  The family is God’s primary vehicle for evangelism and discipleship (Deut. 6:5ff), and is the foundation for worship in the church.

Call the church office for more information and to sign up for this course.

Milestone 3:  Faith Committment Class                                Sunday, October 27 @ 9 am in Room 509
Nothing could be more exciting and wonderful to parents than hearing that their child is ready to follow Jesus. This class is FOR PARENTS to equip you with the resources you need to help your child grow in their new faith.

If your child has recently received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (within this year), please make your plans to attend this training.

When:  Next Class will be in the Fall
Contact Jeff Summers at jsummers@trinitysouthaven.org to sign up.

Milestone 4:  Preteen Passage                                                Sunday, November 17 @ 9 am in Room 509
The preteen years (5th & 6th Grades) are a shotgun blast of change, challenge, and choices. They are confronted with more and more decisions and temptations than ever before.  They will cautiously pull up anchor and move away from their parental pier just to see if the boat will float. At the same time, they will look to you as parents for guidance, encouragement, and even correction.  As parents, you remain the most influential people in their lives.  This class will give you the tools need to navigate these uncharted waters, how to point them back to the Lord, and the relevance He has in their lives. Plus, you will receive helpful tools and resources to help you discuss purity, courtship questions, and biblical manhood and womanhood topics.
